Tuesday, 5th May 2020 — Amblin Partners and Nordisk Film announced today that they have renewed their distribution partnership covering Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland for another two years, through the close of 2021.

The deal maintains Nordisk Film’s exclusive distribution of all Amblin-produced films, including theatrical, home video, television, pay-per-view and video-on-demand rights.

Most recently, the two companies saw shared success with the release of Oscar®-winner 1917, which has earned over $375m worldwide to date, including nearly $10m from Nordisk Film’s four territories. Other past releases include Steven Spielberg’s The Post and The Girl on the Train.

“Nordisk Film is one of the oldest, largest and most successful film companies in Europe,” said Chris Floyd, Amblin Partners’ COO and General Counsel. “We know that, with Nordisk, our films are in the best possible hands in Scandinavia. We are pleased to extend our long relationship with our great friends at Nordisk and continue our years of mutual success.”

“We are excited to continue our long-term partnership with Amblin Partners,” added Kenneth Wiberg, President of Nordisk Film Distribution and Vice President, Nordisk Film. “Maybe more than ever, the world needs great films and captivating stories and Amblin is all about that. Nordic audiences have embraced Amblin’s high-quality films and they constitute an important part of our international film slate going forward.”

Amblin’s relationship with the leading Nordic distributor first began in 2012 and was originally between Nordisk Film and DreamWorks Pictures, Amblin Partners’ predecessor company.
