The advance party of a colonial expedition struggles to survive after crash-landing on the remote planet they hope to settle in Earth 2.

In a last-ditch effort to save her son and two hundred other children from the fatal ravages of a mysterious syndrome affecting humans born and raised on space stations, Devon Adair (Deborah Farentino) organizes a covert expedition to colonize an Earth-like planet 22 light years distant. Despite near-lethal bureaucratic opposition, Devon and her expedition take off and cross the galaxy only to crash-land on Planet 0889 after their advance spaceship malfunctions. The survivors, virtually unarmed and without supplies, face a struggle for survival against dangers known and unknown as they begin an arduous 3,400-mile trek toward the one place on the planet that can sustain large-scale civilization. Along the way they encounter a range of obstacles, including new life forms and mystical occurrences, as well as the constant conflicts that could tear the group apart.

The Earth 2 series was a co-production of Amblin Television and Universal Television for NBC. It ran on the network for 21 episodes between 1994-1995.
