The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas

Release Date: April 28, 2000

Everyone's favorite modern Stone Age family returns for a prehistoric prequel and this time the story takes a step even further back in time when Fred Flintstone (Mark Addy), the boy from the wrong side of the rocks, courts the beautiful young heiress Wilma Slaghoople (Kristen Johnston).

Following a disastrous first date, Fred ends up falling head over heels in love with Wilma, while Fred's best buddy Barney Rubble (Stephen Baldwin) and his finance Betty O'Shale (Jane Krakowski) become inseparable.

Leaving puppy Dino behind, Fred and Barney—along with The Great Gazoo (Alan Cumming), a green alien from outer space—whisk the girls away for a romantic weekend in Rock Vegas. But the scheming Chip Rockefeller (Thomas Gibson) has plans in mind to get Fred out of the picture once and for all, leaving Wilma and her family's fortune all to himself.

The talented cast is also joined by comedy stalwart Harvey Korman and screen legend Joan Collins, as Fred's future mother-in-law and sparring partner Pearl Slaghoople.

Director Brian Levant and producer Bruce Cohen once again teamed up for this prequel to their worldwide box-office hit The Flintstones. The original screenplay was written by Deborah Kaplan & Harry Elfont and Jim Cash & Jack Epps, Jr., based on the classic animated series by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera.

They were joined by a talented production team, which included Jamie Anderson (Small Soldiers) as the director of photography. The Flintstones' Christopher Burian-Mohr (now production designer), editor Kent Bedya, and composer David Newman all returned for the prequel, along with the Jim Henson Creature Shop once again providing the clever and cute prehistoric puppetry.
