IT'S GOING TO BE A SHOT IN THE DARK

"You know, I would kill for this job, but the people I want to kill are the people offering me the job."

Val Waxman

Hollywood Ending

Release Date: May 3, 2002

Woody Allen writes, directs and stars in his latest contemporary romantic comedy, also starring George Hamilton, Téa Leoni (Deep Impact), Debra Messing, Mark Rydell, Tiffani Thiessen, and Treat Williams (1941).

Allen stars as Val Waxman, a two-time Oscar winner turned wash-up, neurotic director in desperate need of a comeback. When it comes, Waxman finds himself backed into a corner: work for his ex-wife Ellie (Leoni) who dumped him for the studio head (Williams) bankrolling the picture, or forget his last shot and avoid a painful reconnect. Is Val blinded by love when he opts for the reconnect? Is love blind when it comes to Ellie's staunch support? Literally and figuratively, the proof is in the picture.

The film reunites some of Allen's behind-the-scenes creative team who collaborated with the director on the DreamWorks Pictures releases The Curse of the Jade Scorpion and Small Time Crooks, including production designer Santo Loquasto, editor Alisa Lepselter. Working for the first time with Allen on Hollywood Ending are cinematographer Wedigo von Schultzendorff and costume designer Melissa Toth. The film is produced by Letty Aronson.
