Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Release Date: May 22, 2008

In Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, the years and the mileage have both caught up with Indy, now in his sixth decade, a decorated veteran of the Good War, and having suffered the losses of his father Henry and friend and colleague Marcus Brody. But as life takes away, it sometimes gives back, as the film not only finds Indy rediscovering and rescuing his long lost love Marion Ravenwood (Karen Allen, Raiders of the Lost Ark), but also learning he fathered with Marion a son, yet another lost boy named Henry who goes by a dog-related nickname: Mutt (Shia LaBeouf, Transformers).

Along with his quest to save friends and family, Indy is up against new Cold War adversaries—the Soviets, lead by the mysterious, psychically gifted Irina Spalko (Cate Blanchett)—in pursuit of a mythical lost city and artifacts not of this earth.

Rounding out the key cast are Ray Winstone, John Hurt and Jim Broadbent, and joining Spielberg behind the camera are longtime Indy collaborators George Lucas, producers Frank Marshall and Kathleen Kennedy, composer John Williams and editor Michael Kahn, and new franchise collaborators screenwriter David Koepp (Jurassic Park)—working from a story by Lucas and Jeff Nathanson (Catch Me If You Can)—cinematographer Janusz Kaminski, production designer Guy Hendrix Dyas and costume designer Mary Zophres (The Terminal).

The film was a smashing success critically and at the box office—Spielberg’s third highest grossing film in his career.*
